I wrote a novel. It’s fiction. I made it all up. Writing novels is a pretty long process, and it consumed me. Every moment my mind was at rest, and often when it was not my brain was actively thinking about the story. No matter when or where, I would think about the characters I made up and dream up the many interactions they would live through. I would imagine the words they would say, how they might react and how they would feel. What was remarkable about all of this was that it pushed me to be mindful of myself. I got to thinking about what I would say, how I would react and how I would feel if I was met with the same challenges. Through this and talking with people who have read my book and others who have lived through grief, I realized that The Memory Keepers is meant to help people. It inspires you to look at the world through a different lens. It encourages you to CHOOSE contentment. To find ways of acceptance in times of pain and worry. Embracing calm when life feels crazy.
Join me in my adventure as I share some of the things I changed that led me to happiness.

My art studio is situated upon the traditional territories of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee, and Mississaugas. This land is covered by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, which was an agreement between the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabek to share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. This land is covered by the Between the Lakes Purchase, 1792, between the Crown and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. The region is home to many Indigenous Peoples from across Turtle Island. I strive to do more and learn more about the rich history of this land so that I can better understand roles as a resident, neighbour, collaborater, and caretaker. Furthermore, this learning will deepen my understanding of my privileges as a settler on this territory.
